The Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation is a charity organisation focused on empowering the less privileged people of the world. The Foundation was founded in 2019 by Dr Chinedu Umeadi, a medical doctor and an academic who is passionate about education, health, youth development, and mentorship.
Our aim is to touch the lives of the less privileged people of the world positively through improving their literacy levels through education, improving their health status, supporting youth programmes, and community development.
In the area of education, The Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation supports student and university projects, and provide on-going mentorship to students. We organise quiz competitions across Africa with the aim of stimulating students across the African continent to improve their knowledge base in different subjects. We give prizes to the best schools and give scholarships to the best students from the quiz competitions. We also have structured scholarship programmes to universities for senior secondary school students who have excelled in university entry examinations.
In the area of health, The Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation organises health outreach programmes which include giving free medical consultations and treatments to communities across Africa and beyond. We partner with other health organisations for our free health outreach programmes. We also organise health conferences and training programmes focusing on different target groups at different times. The groups we target for our health conferences and training programmes include healthcare professionals who can disseminate the knowledge they acquire from attending the programmes to people they care for, students, women of all age groups, and young people. We also have yearly free surgery programmes during which we sponsor free surgeries for some less privileged people with some conditions that require complicated surgeries but cannot afford the treatment.
In the area of supporting youth programmes, The Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation provides broad based mentorship programmes for young people. Our mentorship programmes for academic purposes is led by professionals who are highly trained and skilled in different disciplines. We also provide mentorship programmes for young people involved in trading. This is led by business managers who have excelled in different areas of trading. We also support apprenticeship programmes and support people who have come through these apprenticeship programmes with setting up their own businesses. The Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation also sponsors student programmes such as students’ week and health weeks in tertiary institutions.
In the area of community development and capacity building, The Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation supports community projects through making donations to ongoing projects and starting and completing new projects. Projects we support include building of new hospitals, leisure centres, schools, and trading centres; or improving the state of already existent community facilities. We also have revolving loan schemes for people running or starting new businesses.
